NEW FRIENDS – Photos by Jennifer Power

Om a recent, late February day in Niagara Falls. millionaire PASO DOBLE (chestnut) met a new friend who was retired with him – multiple stakes winner JENNA’S WABBIT.

JENNA’S WABBIT, a son of Old Forester who has earned just about $500,000, ended up low on the claiming ladder last year and recently was offered for sale on the Kijiji website. Through various conversations on social media, many people became aware that the fleet gelding was for sale.

Dominic DiLalla, owner of Centennial Farms (Niagara) Inc., who raced Paso Doble from 2010 to 2015 (from age 4 to 9) heard about Jenna’s Wabbit and contacted his farm manager Jennifer Power to “get a stall ready”.

DiLalla had Jenna’s Wabbbit moved from his place of residence to Centennial and now the retired gelding, who raced last year, is having the time of his life with Paso Doble.

While these photos were taken during a brief, mild spell in the area, it is very wintry again in southern Ontario.

Congratulations for DiLalla and Power and to Jenna’s Wabbit and Paso Doble.

CANADIAN/ONTARIO BRED ORB COLT BRINGS $600,000

STRONG MARCH 2-YEAR-OLD SALE IN OCALA

An Ontario-bred  colt from the first crop of Kentucky Derby winner ORB (Malibu Moon) from the mare LYNNETTE by Johannesburg sold for $600,000 as the last offering in the OBS March 2yo sale to Todd Pletcher, agent, one of the most expensive locally bred youngsters to sell in recent years.

Bred by Christine Hayden, this fabulous bay colt was sold last year for $100,000 to Silver Creek Thoroughbreds by Hayden through Cara Bloodstock.

Lynnette has been super for the Hayden team since she was bought in foal to Elusive Quality in 2012 for $210,000.

They sold the mare’s first foal, Jennifer Lynnette for $110,000 and a Tiznow colt named Arizona for $230,000. Arizona was working for most of 2016 as a 2-year-old in California but has yet to race.

Get ready to start keeping tabs on the Orb – Lynnette colt as Pletcher gets him ready for racing.

Another son of Orb topped the first session of the sale at $1.25 million. Orb stands for $25,000 and this 2-year-old sale topper was originally a $350,000 yearling purchase. The dam, Remember, is by Forest Wildcat.
