What is the coolest place you have
ever visited? Why? When?

Thailand in 1997. “The culture is so incredibly different. Eastern culture
is much different and makes an incredible contrast to ours.”

Where do you want to see yourself
in five years, not only in regards to horses?

“On a boat sailing around the world.” Also, Bruce would love to be at
the Olympics for dressage on his current dressage mount Hermelin.

What was the most
memorable/important horse show moment to you? Why?

“I try to forget them.”

Tell us about your first pony.
Bruce didn’t start riding until the age of 13 and so his first mount was a
horse. Ginger was a 15.2hh Morgan / Arab cross. “Some days she’d jump, some
days she wouldn’t!”

Who is the most interesting person
you’ve had the opportunity of meeting?

Yves Navarre, who is a French writer. Bruce met him while he was living in
Paris.

Who is someone that you have NEVER
met, in or out of the horse industry that you would love to meet? Why?

Gabby Grillo, a concert pianist and also one of the top German dressage riders.
Graham Greene, an author who Bruce really likes.

If you could be granted one wish what would it be that you would wish for?
Happiness.

What is one of your worst habits?
Bruce said, “correcting people’s grammar.” So if you ever meet Bruce,
watch your English!!!

What has been the scariest experience of your life so far?
Bruce and his dad were flying across Canada in his dad’s plane. Both of them were flying, and they hit 2 storms along the way and almost crashed.

In your opinion, what is Canada lacking to make itself at the top of the international rankings?
All Bruce had to say was, “better administration.”

Do you have any good luck charms or superstitions that you live by? What?
– Left boot always on first
– Mismatched socks
– Carol Davidson (ex-wife of Bruce Davidson) would always tie his stock for him

What are your biggest pet peeves?
– Negative attitudes
– The word “BUTTON”

What do you do to relieve stress before a big competition?

What is your new up and coming horse?
Hermelin – 6 year-old Trakehner mare owned by Long Lane Farm. (Dressage)
Daphnis – 6 year-old Trakehner gelding owned by Long Lane Farm. (Eventing)

If someone ran into you on the street, what kind of clothes would you be wearing?
You would find Bruce in tight black jeans and a t-shirt most of the time.

If you couldn’t ride any more, what would you do with your life, besides coaching?
Bruce would read, write and play on his computer. He has always wanted to be
involved in Green Peace, but never has and would maybe try to use his law degree
somewhere!

What has been the most embarrassing moment you have had in riding?
In a dressage test his zipper blew out… “Luckily I was wearing
underwear!” And another embarrassing moment in Bruce’s career was at
Ledyard while riding Hitman. Bruce farted in the middle of his dressage test and
Hitman got scared and bucked. The judge did not hear Bruce but certainly
commented on the buck!!
