The latest calendar for the Longines North American League for the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 World Cup cycles reveals that two Canadian events have been dropped. Conspicuously absent are International Bromont in Bromont, QC, in August (East Coast), and Royal West in Calgary, AB, in October (West Coast). The World Cup qualifier at both Thunderbird in Langley, BC (August) and the Royal Horse Show in Toronto, ON (November) remain on the schedule.

Since the Longines North American League was first announced in 2015, four events have been held in Canada, two on the East Coast and two on the West Coast. The latest schedule with 14 events has re-assigned two events south of the border: Valle De Bravo 4* in Mexico, which was in the 2015/2016 rotation, returns in February; and newcomer Split Rock 3* in Johnstown, OH, makes its debut in October.

An FEI spokesperson commented, “The Organisers and the National Federations have a deadline of 1 September 2017 to return the duly signed host agreements for the Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping North American League seasons up to 2020. They are required to submit the calendar dates by 1 October 2017 for the next two year cycle. Following receipt of these dates, the FEI calendar will be updated accordingly…. As this is not yet complete, we are unable to confirm anything further at this time.”

However, unless the FEI plans to expand the series by adding more events, it would appear that this year will be the last for Bromont and Calgary.
