George Tidball, founder of Thunderbird Equestrian Show Park, died on June 3, 2014, at the age of 83.

Tidball is survived by his wife, Dianne and four children, Jane, Laura, Kathy and Stephen. Jane is the president and tournament director at Thunderbird, one of the top equestrian facilities in North America.

A driving force for equestrian activities in Langley, B.C., the Tidballs were inducted into the Jump Canada Hall of Fame in 2009 and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Horse Council of B.C. in 2012.

Tidball is also the founder of the Keg Steakhouse chain and is responsible for bringing McDonalds to Canada.
