EC National Awards

Nominations have officially opened for the Equestrian Canada National Awards for 2016, and will remain open until March 3, 2017 at 4p.m. ET.

EC Sport Licence Holders are encouraged to submit nominations for the following awards:

Equestrian of the Year – The Dr. George Jacobson Trophy

Junior Equestrian of the Year – The Gillian Wilson Trophy

Horse of the Year – The Hickstead Trophy

Canadian Bred Horse of the Year

Canadian Breeder of the Year

Volunteer of the Year

Owner of the Year

Equestrian Canada Media Award – The Susan Jane Anstey Trophy

Boehringer Ingelheim Equine Canada Health & Welfare Award

Selection of EC National Awards

Nominations for EC National Awards will be reviewed, and recipients will be chosen, by the EC Awards Committee, with support and input from appropriate EC stakeholders and experts. The 2017 EC Awards Committee members are Deanna Phelan (Chair), Jennifer Anstey, Michael Boyd, Erin Lundteigen, Phillip Rozon and Karen Sparks.

The EC National Award recipients for 2016 will be honoured at the EC Awards Reception, taking place on April 8, 2017 at the 2017 EC Convention in Vancouver, BC. EC National Coaching Awards

The 2016 EC National Coaching Awards recognizes coaches and instructors from all disciplines and contexts who exemplify the coaching and teaching practices of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).

Nominees are recognized for their contribution to the sport as an instructor and coach, whether their students are active in competitive sport, or are recreational participants.

Nominations for the following awards are now open:

  • Coach Developer of the Year
  • Community Coach of the Year
  • Competitive Coach of the Year

National Breed Sport Awards

The EC National Breed Sport Committee recognizes excellence with annual national awards. Nominations are now open for High Point Horse of the Year for Morgan, Welsh, Saddlebred, Arabian and part-Arabian breeds, as well as Saddle Seat Rider of the Year.
