London, Ontario native Dorinda “Dinnie” Greenway will be inducted into the London Sports Hall of Fame in November.

Greenway is an accomplished equestrian and international judge. She was one of the first female riders to compete internationally, and was winner of the first international show jumping competition at the 1949 Royal Horse Show. Two years later, she won the first Canadian international dressage competition at the same venue.

Greenway’s family is very well-known on the Canadian horse show scene. Her parents, judge G. A. P. Brickenden and Catherine (McCormick) Brickenden, were some of the first to breed sport horses and were important members of the showing and hunting communities.

She earned her colours with the London Hunt at age eight. Later, she attended boarding school in England where she joined Pony Club. In 1948, she founded the London Pony Club. She began competing at the Royal Horse Show in 1927, participating in multiple disciplines.

Greenway has been an active member on committees of the Western Fair, the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair as well as Canadian and international equestrian federations and teams.

She continues to ride into her 90s.
