What potential…lovely confirmation for dressage!
More of an obervation and question, not a comment per say. Winnie, I noticed that there was extensive mouthing of the bit, no tail wringing, in an otherwise calm and responsive horse. Knowing you do extensive work at liberty, was Zelador unfamiliar with the type of bit being used?
Thanks for your questions. I noticed the mouthing, too, and was wondering why he did it. I’m guessing here…Christi doesn’t ride him very often and she does have more contact during this video than I have. Also, this is the first time he was asked to do more than a few steps in a row. We have spent a lot of time helping him learn how to mouth the bit (on one side, then the other). We’ve done this from the ground, at a standstill in the saddle and during the different gaits. Perhaps some or all of these factors contributed to the mouthing. We’ll film again and see if it occurs.
Looking forward to seeing a more relaxed Zelador. Thanks for your prompt response.
