Have you been following along with the worktabs each day at Woodbine? In the spring, before horses make their first start of the meeting, it is useful to tab, the tabs!

Of course, we can’t see how the workout was accomplished but as a general tool, taking notice of horses who had good times on surfaces that were on the slow side, can sometimes yield a good price horse. (Also, a horse that has fast workouts on tracks that were very fast sometimes do not look as good)

I have made note of some horses with good times – note that some have already raced on opening weekend and fared well.

I also rate the surfaces each morning as slow, fair or fast to give myself an idea if the times were all slow or fast, etc.

APRIL 9 – POLYTRACK – fair TO FAST surface, PHIL (3 fur). lots of 48 workouttimes for 4 furlongs – DREAMAKER (gate), RUN TO THE BANK, FOREST PIKE – BANGKOK continues to post bullets, MELMICH, BIG BROWN BROOSKI

APRIL 8 – POLYTRACK yielding fair times, horses with good time include FRIEND DALE, GREEN DOCTOR, VENTUOURS GAL, SAVANNA CITY

TRAINING TRACK – Fair to slow surface – SOLO PLAYER, LINE OF BEST FIT

APRIL 7 – POLYTRACK yielding fair times – horses to tab include  URBAN FORESTER, KEEN GIZMO, BE MIND PHIL

POLYTRACK was yielding fair (average) times,** SPLENDID GLORY continues to work fast, SWEATER WEATHER and THE FEATHER LANDS and SLY GOLD worth tabbing.

POLYTRACK – fair to fast, horses with works 47 – 48 seconds worth a look (about 8 of the 26 workers at half a mile)

POLYTRACK – on the average side for times, **SPLASHY GIZMO, ZIA post good times for four furlongs, VINOLICIOUS continues to work fast

take note of WHERE’S THE DUKE and the tandem of CHIRICAHUA SIGNAL and MARTEN LAKE plus MORE THAN BANDEAU

In speaking to several trainers who were aboard their horses and working on the training track on this particular morning, the surface was on the cuppy and powdery side, so the times were not fast for this busy morning.
