HASTINGS REPORT – 2YO STAKES LAST WEEK

Sunnyside Gal has 56 owners!@!
Vancouver, B.C. (Aug. 19/11) – The 2-year-olds strutted their stuff in Friday night’s back-to-back $100,000 stakes races at Hastings Racecourse and the most popular filly on the grounds didn’t disappoint her syndicate of owners.

When Sunnyside Gal won the Sadie Diamond Futurity by a comfortable 3 ¼ lengths, her 56 investors came storming out of the stands accompanied by friends and family, expanding the welcoming committee to well over 100.

With organizer Glen Todd leading the parade, the North American Thoroughbred 2010 Limited Liability Partnership (NAT2010LLP) basked in the victory with trainer Troy Taylor and jockey Mario Gutierrez.

Sunnyside Gal, coming off an 8-length win in the BC Cup Debutante on August 1, finished the Sadie Diamond in a final time of 1:18.15 over 6 ½ furlongs and paid $3.50, $2.70, $2.30.

Todd and partner Patrick Kinsella were hoping to score a double with odds-on favourite Herescomelucky looking to make it three stakes wins in a row following victories in the BC Cup Nursery and New Westminster. It looked at the final turn as though Gutierrez would score another win but Satorialist with Isaias Cardenas aboard got up in the closing strides to win the Jack Diamond Futurity by a half-length over Herescomelucky.

Trained by Dino Condilenios for Swift Thoroughbreds Inc., Satorialist finished the 6 ½ furlongs in a final time of 1:19.05 and paid $11.50, $4.30, $3.80.
