TIME TO BUY A YEARLING!

Breeders sell tomorrow – a labour of love

After  a tumultuous few years, breeders of Thoroughbreds in Ontario have fingers crossed that the industry is on the upward swing and that those precious horses they have raised will sell well tomorrow and Wednesday at Woodbine.

The Canadian Premier Yearling Sale begins at 3 p.m. tomorrow and with 100 less horses catalogued than in previous years, demand will up. Consignments have been very busy in the last few days showing yearlings to prospective buyers, a sign of hope.

The purses in Ontario have remained steady, the Ontario sired program is lucrative and with the OLG – horse racing integration set to move forward and provincial funding in place, now is the time to get into this great sport.

The last Ontario-sired crop of PHILANTHROPIST is sure to attract attention and there are many offerings by that top stallion. He had 2 stakes winners on Canadian Millions Sales night. So many other stallions have simply had one winner after another in the maiden allowance, allowance and stakes classes at Woodbine, they are too numerous to mention.

Check for pedigree updates at the sale, there have been a lot of additions of winners and stakes winners to the pages in recent weeks.
