It was a good thing Georgie Hendrie was holding onto that trophy!

WOODBINE! DAY ONE, AND ALL IS PRETTY GOOD!

Well, that was indeed quite good, taking home a Sovereign last night for my story GLORIFICATION (you can read it:

https://canadianthoroughbred.com/canadian-thoroughbred/the-glorification-of-inglorious/), and it was the first year the judging was done by Humber College. Cool.

Everyone was bright-eyed and bushy tailed last night at the Sovereign awards ceremony and the place looked super with lots of pink and orange flowers and decor. Very spring-like.

The highlight of the night had to be the surprise honouring of SUE LESLIE with a Special Sovereign. Sue looked amazing considering she is a tireless worker on so many boards (HBPA, OHRIA, Longrun etc.) and her work with OHRIA to battle the government this year has been stunning.

GARDINER FARMS won its first breeder award and it was a poignant moment as it’s longtime manager DR. MIKE COLTERJOHN recently passed away. Gardiner, now Paradox Farm, is run by Sherry McLean and Moira Gunn.

NEVER RETREAT won the HORSE OF THE YEAR by a reported 2 VOTING POINTs over INGLORIOUS. Wow.

So. on with 2012! Thoroughblog will reboot, re-start the engine, and be back with the highlights of opening day!
