QUEEN’S PLATE TOP 10

QUEEN’SPLATEKITTEN‘S 83 Beyer Figure from his one-paced outing in the Grade 1 Blue Grass Stakes hoisted the dark bay up to top spot for the Queen’s Plate on June 26. As long as he is now re-directed and pointed to the Plate, the Martin Schwartz owned son of Kitten’s Joy is a factor for trainer Todd Pletcher.

ELITE ALEX bombed in the Ark. Derby on the dirt but all reports say he is still on his way to Woodbine by June – he must be supplemented to the Plate by May 1.

BEAR’S CHILL stepped up with a huge win on the weekend – he too is not yet eligible – and the filly JOYFUL VICTORY is headed to the Kentucky Oaks on May 6.

GEORGE ROYAL STAKES AT HASTINGS THIS WEEKEND..

Vancouver Sun

VANCOUVER – It has been written in horse racing annals that if George Royal did anything wrong in his career, it was being born the same year (1961) as Northern Dancer.

George Royal won nine consecutive stakes races as a 3-year-old but was overshadowed in 1964 as a result of Northern Dancer becoming the first Canadian-bred to win the Kentucky Derby.

The following year George Royal won the San Juan Capistrano Handicap on the turf at Santa Anita and also the Canadian International Stakes at Woodbine. They were performances
