On the way to the Queen’s Plate years ago, The Queen Mum and her entourage passed by an apartment window where an expectant mother looked out, hoping to get a glimpse of royalty.
The Mom-to-be read up on the Queen Mum’s trip to the horse races, not knowing much about the sport. Whistling Sea was the winner and the Queen Mum made the presentation to his owner. Not long after reading about the event, the Toronto woman was ‘off to the races’ herself, at the hospital where yours truly was born.
I’m off to celebrate!

Happy birthday Jen!!!
Jen: I’ll drink a toast, in absentia. Many more.

Love the story! Happy Birthday!
Indeed. Happy Birthday Jen.
A peculiar Beyer number on Saturday. My filly It’s Gail was given a Beyer of 72 for her win in the first race. The next race at the same 1 1/16 diustance was won by Alpha Bettor. His time was one fifth faster than the previous race but he received a Beyer of 83. A Beyer difference of 11 points for a time difference of 1/5th of a second in consecutive races. Something strange here. In fact, you originally reported that It’s Gail’s Beyer was 77.
