feb-6Well The Eventing Showcase didn’t turn out just the way we were hoping. Woody was a bit lacklustre in the stadium and had two fences down. However, he redeemed himself with a really wonderful cross country ride. I know Selena was disappointed in his dressage and is already working on how she is going to adjust her warm up to improve his performance when the weather doesn’t co-operate. It was a fun event and I think it is really good for the sport. One cannot but muse if this is the direction eventing (and the Olympics) is heading in.

Here at home we were glued to the screen. Everyone has been starting very early in the morning for the past two days so as to free themselves up to watch #eventingshowcase. It is always a lot of fun at Balsam Hall when there is a big event to watch. We do good things with food, a big roaring fire and we really enjoy it. The only thing more fun than watching cross country is watching cross country with your like-minded friends.

Selena, Woody and Anne Marie are already on the drive home from Wellington to Ocala. Selena is leaving at some ungodly hour tomorrow morning to drive back to Canada. I am looking forward to seeing her and I expect her to get here some time Monday morning. I am going to miss my three boys when she ships them down on Wednesday. Solo, Rummy and Benny are a joy to run my eye over every day.

As you can see from the photo Benny is looking sleek and fat. Benny had only had one breeze (gallop at the track). He was deadly slow and they never bothered trying again lol. He was in very good flesh when we bought him not having done much in the way of work. This is his two month photo taken on the second of February. They are both sweet but Benny is a total cuddle bun. I think he would be as good an amateur horse as we hope he will be a horse for Selena. His temperament is really outstanding, it would be outstanding on any horse never mind an OTTB
