Hello! Karen Robinson here. You may already be familiar with my writing, either in the pages of Horse Sport magazine or other publications and websites. I am one of those lucky equestrian journalists who gets to cover stuff like the Olympics; while I'm at such exciting events I am exposed to all manner of side stories and controversy, much of which doesn't make it into my articles. The blog that you will read here is the place I can share some of those stories. When I'm not writing articles or this blog, I design freestyles with my company Applause Dressage. I also ride my KWPN gelding Theo in the safe atmosphere of a dressage ring, having long given up the adrenaline of eventing. And when I'm not doing any of those things, I can usually be found traveling somewhere sunny with my husband Jan, and when possible, Dachshund Chorizo.

After all the excitement (and tragedy) at Vegas and then Rolex the next week, it’s pretty quiet out there in the public domain of equestrian sport – unless you are either UK-based or rich and freewheeling enough to have attended

Don’t worry, I am far from finished talking about the WC. There is still jumping to discuss, especially the irony of Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum looking all misty in a cowboy hat while the German anthem played on her home soil of
For those of you who didn’t come to Vegas this year, I have some bad news for you. You missed what might have been the best freestyle competition in the history of dressage. No joke. It was stupendous and I
Well, to you folks who stayed home this time, you are missing some great action. And they have great clothes this time, with no line ups because numbers are definitely down. The buzz about Steffen winning yesterday is still louder
Wow! What a shock today has been. First of all I had to take myself out of sleep mode after three blissful days of camping with my husband and girlfriends in the desert. And what sharper contrast to pristine wilderness
First off, I have a bit of bad news to share with Americans who hoped to use FEI TV to watch the World Cup from the comfort of your desks – or living rooms if you are that much of
By this time next week Sin City will be crawling with horse lovers of all kinds, not to mention some of the world’s finest equine athletes. I’m one of those people for whom ‘once in a lifetime is plenty’ when
I may have got what I wanted when Anky announced last week that she would take Painted Black to Las Vegas, but not everyone is happy about the outcome. I received comments and emails on both sides of the fence,
