In another twist in the US horse slaughter saga, the owners of Valley Meat Co. in New Mexico, a would-be slaughterhouse with plans to open this month, have filed a motion to sue State Attorney General Gary King.

Valley Meat Co. contends that King’s efforts to block the facility’s opening, which include obtaining a 10-day temporary restraining order last week, are slanderous. Blair Dunn, the company’s lawyer said the lawsuit will claim slander, harassment and malicious abuse of process. Further, he said his clients will seek damages to tune of several million dollars.
