The German Equestrian Federation has announced that Totilas has been withdrawn from the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ due to injury. The 14-year-old stallion, who was set to compete under Matthias Alexander Rath next week (August 25-29), was Germany’s best hope for an individual gold medal.

In a press release, the German Equestrian Federation said: “Totilas and Matthias Alexander Rath showed impressive form at the German training camp at Gestut Peterhof but right before the team’s departure to France, Totilas knocked himself against an existing splint and had a painful reaction.

“After intensive consideration between the team management, the team vet and the rider, it has been decided to withdraw Totilas from WEG participation.”

The pair made an impressive return to competition this summer after being sidelined by another injury for two years. They won all their classes at CDIs in Kapellen, Wiesbaden, Perl and Aachen.
