Queen’splatekitten, the 3-1 morning line favourite in Sunday’s $500,000 Breeders’ Stakes, third leg in Canada’s Triple Crown, at Woodbine, has been scratched from the race.

Trainer Todd Pletcher communicated the colt’s status to the Woodbine race office on Friday morning.

Pletcher said he is not completely happy with how Queens’platekitten, who was prepping for the Breeders’ at Saratoga in upstate New York, is doing at this time, according to the Daily Racing Form.

With Queen’splatekitten now out of the Breeders’ Stakes, 7-2 morning-line choice Pender Harbour will likely be the post-time favourite for the Breeders’.  The Mike DePaulo trainee captured the Prince of Wales Stakes at Fort Erie, the second leg in the Canadian Triple Crown series, in his most recent effort.

A win by Pender Harbour would give Luis Contreras, who rode Inglorious to a win in the Queen’s Plate, first gem in the three-race series, an historic triple as he attempts to become the first jockey in the Triple Crown era (since 1959) to win all three jewels with two horses.

The 121st running of the Breeders’, for Canadian-foaled three-year-olds, over one and one-half miles on the E.P. Taylor Turf Course, will go postward at 5:08 pm ET, with The Score providing Canada-wide television coverage in a special one-hour presentation from4:30 – 5:30 pm. All starters will carry 126 pounds.
