Ontario riders made their province proud at the Canadian Interprovincial Equestrian Championships in Ottawa this past weekend, bringing home medals in several equestrian disciplines.

Ontario took home second place in the overall standings and finished with team gold in Dressage and a team silver in Show Jumping. Ontario also received the “Most Improved Province Award.” Individual medals included:

Senior Dressage
Silver – Jenna Mayhew of Ottawa, ON.
Bronze – Kendra Wheeler of Elora, ON.

Junior Show Jumping
Bronze – Cydney Pavan of St. Catharines, ON.

Team Ontario was also made up of Faith Bell of St. Catharines, ON. on the junior Show Jumping team; Alexa Bennett of York, ON. and Nikki Snazel of Uxbridge, ON. on the senior Show Jumping team; Ethan Stratford of Teeterville, ON. and Jorie Prow of St. Thomas, ON. on the junior Reining team: and Gail Gimpelj of Guelph, ON. on the senior Reining team; Devlin Abergel-Preston of Ottawa, ON. and Morgan Bordillon of Edwards, ON. on the junior Dressage team.

Guiding the Ontario riders to their success were Jumping coaches Rick Bishop of Wellington, ON. and Andrea Bellamy of Brighton, ON.; Reining coach Joanne Milton of Hillsburgh, ON,; and Dressage coaches Tom Dvorak of Hillsburgh, ON. & Simone Williams of Navan, ON.

The Canadian Interprovincial Equestrian Championships is a multi-discipline collaborative event between the national and provincial sport organizations governing equestrian competition. The 2015 CIEC took place at Wesley Clover Park in Ottawa from Sept. 25-27.
