Equine Canada (EC) would like to inform FEI-level athletes, owners, and competition organizers of the following Extraordinary Rule Amendment, which is effective immediately:

Section A, Article A603.1 o)

At a competition (event) holding concurrent Equine Canada and FEI-sanctioned classes/divisions, a horse that is presented to but not accepted at the first FEI Horse Inspection, or at re-inspection, may not compete in Equine Canada classes/divisions held at the same competition (event) for a minimum of 48 hours.

A horse held for re-inspection and not subsequently re-presented is subject to the same condition.

This rule was initiated by the Equine Health and Welfare Committee. Because it concerns the welfare of the horse, it is treated as an Extraordinary Rule Amendment and applies at all competitions that hold concurrent FEI and National classes. This rule, which will be found in Section A, Article A603.1 o), must be printed in all relevant prize lists.

For your information, this is the process pertaining to the first FEI Horse Inspection:

1. Immediately following the Horse Inspection, a master list of the horses presented must be delivered to the competition secretary by the official tasked with keeping this list.

2. The official ensures that the Organizing Committee is aware that any horse(s) not accepted cannot be entered in any national class for 48 hours.

3. Should a horse that has not been accepted at the first FEI Horse Inspection or re-inspection compete in a national class at the same competition (event) during the 48 hour period,

a.) The results and prizes, if any, shall be nullified, and the horse disqualified.

b.) The Person Responsible shall be issued a national “Yellow Card” by the Steward/TD, and further sanctions and/or fines may be assessed by the Ground Jury.
