Equine Canada (EC) is pleased to welcome Mathieu Ravignat to the new position of Senior Officer, Executive Services, effective May 25, 2016.

Ravignat’s impressive professional experience includes five years as a Member of Parliament for the Federal Riding of the Pontiac. From 2011 to 2015, he represented the interests of the residents of Pontiac, QC, managing a substantial budget and overseeing staff. His responsibilities included everything from drafting private member bills and policies on international trade to providing citizens with access to government services and handling national media relations.

In addition, Ravignat has held several positions with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), including being part of the management team for the Partnerships Portfolio, and Senior Program Officer of Strategic Programs. He has also been a member of various international delegations, including the Canadian Delegation to the Organization of Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the Canadian Delegation for the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement Canada (Canada-Europe Free Trade Agreement).

As the Senior Officer, Executive Services, Ravignat’s key responsibilities will include:
• Liaising with internal and external EC constituents and overseeing a thriving collaborative environment that fosters open discussion and teamwork.
• Establishing clear priorities and managing executive projects that effectively utilize resources.
• Creating and implementing success indicators and milestones to track progress toward executive objectives.
• Representing EC to internal and external stakeholders regarding executive initiatives that are in line with the values, ethics, accountability, and professionalism of the organization.
Ravignat officially took up his Senior Officer, Executive Services post, based at the EC national office in Ottawa, ON, on May 25, 2016.

“Participation in equestrian sports and activities change lives for the better,” said Ravignat, who holds a Master of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences (Cum Laude) from the University of Ottawa. “It is truly a pleasure for me to join the EC team and contribute my experience and skills to the current process of making EC a world-class national federation.”
