Sam-Son Farms’ Magic Broomstick rallied from the back of the pack to score a dramatic win in Saturday’s off-the-turf $100,000 River Memories Stakes, at Woodbine.

The dark bay daughter of More Than Ready-Special Brush, trained by Malcolm Pierce and ridden to victory by Emma-Jayne Wilson, maintained her perfect record in 2012 with a late run to take the mile and seventy yard stake.

Silent Moon led the field through moderate splits of :23.59, :47.23 and 1:11.74 with Nikkis Bold Gelato hot on her heels.

Mutuel favourite All Star Heart, stalking from fourth position, advanced down the backstretch and pressured Silent Moon through the turn to take the lead, but a resplendent Magic Broomstick would not be denied, scoring a half-length victory in 1:41.48.

Magic Broomstick banked $60,000 in victory, while improving her record to seven wins, a second and three thirds from 15 lifetime starts.

She paid $7.90, $3.50 and $3.20, combining with All Star Heart ($3.20, $2.80) for a $25.40 (4-10) exactor. A 4-10-3 (Chokurei, $4.90 to show) triactor was worth $137.70, while a $1 superfecta [4-10-2-9 (Silent Moon)] came back $334. Lode Lady and Azameera were scratched.
