Ottawa, ON – Equine Canada would like to congratulate Kerri McGregor of Newmarket, ON, on being named as a member of the Canadian Olympic Committee’s (COC) Sport Partners Relations committee.

Sport Partners Relations is responsible for the COC’s rapport with national sport organisations (NSO), augmenting the role and experience of COC Session Members, fostering Canadian presence in international sports federations and the COC’s and NSO’s relationships with local sport agencies and organisations.

In addition to increasing the equestrian presence on COC committees and sport partners, McGregor’s new committee activities will also strongly complement her role as the Canadian Equestrian Team Leader at the Olympics, Pan American Games, and at the World Equestrian Games.

“I am delighted to have been named to this committee and look forward to making a contribution. It is fantastic to have equestrian continue to be more involved with the Canadian Olympic Committee and raise our sport’s visibility within the network of amateur sports,” said McGregor.

In 2007, McGregor was named as the Assistant Team Leader and traveled with the Canadian Equestrian Team (CET) to the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and then to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where the equestrian portion was held in Hong Kong. She is the CET Team Leader for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games being held in held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY. The Games feature the world championships in eight equestrian sports and are being held in North America for the first time from September 25–October 10, 2010.
