A new formula that will see the best 18 Teams in the world competing at the series Final was introduced for the 2013 FEI Nations Cup™ Series, following a sponsorship deal with the Saudi Equestrian Fund. For the purposes of qualifying teams, the world has been divided into six regions (Europe Divisions 1 and 2, North and Central America/Caribbean, South America, Middle East, Asia/Australasia, and Africa). Canada earned its berth to the prestigious series final by finishing in second place in the North and Central American/Caribbean region.
