Jump Canada distributed $30,000 to eight deserving competition sites through the Jump Canada Venue Development Fund in 2010.

Two applicants were chosen by the committee to receive $7,500 each while an additional $15,000 was divided among other applicants.

Jump Canada feels that the Venue Development Fund is a wise use of levy income, as it benefits hunter, jumper and equitation competitors across the country.

“The Jump Canada venue development fund is such an important and appreciated program for Canadian horse shows,” said John Taylor, Chair of Jump Canada.  “The standard of hunter/jumper shows is constantly improving, and the grants from Jump Canada really help this to happen.  The committee sees many applicants looking for assistance with footing, equipment, safety matters and general improvements that make the showing experience better for our Jump Canada members.”

The funds were divided as follows:

Concours hippique de levis, Breakeyville, QC—$7,500 assisted with the cost of upgrading the footing, the installation of permanent bathrooms as well as a service pavilion for competitors and announcers.

Heart of the Continent, Winnipeg, MB—$7,500 was applied to the cost of redoing the footing in three sand rings, replace and level new sand, and add a gazebo for grand prix ring.

Old Home Week English Horse Show, Charlottetown, PEI—$4,000 assisted with cost of purchasing a complete set of hunter and jumper jumps.

Milner Downs Summer Classic, Langley, BC—$4,000 was used towards the improvement of footing in grand prix ring, grass hunter ring and three sand rings, improvement of PA system, hedging and lighting.

Restless Pines Horse Show, Hammonds Plains, NS—$2,000 was used towards the purchase of stainless steel tracks and breakaway cups, building of new jumps and replacement of all the poles and planks.

Oldfield Farm, Lower Wakefield, NB—$2,000 assisted with the purchase of permanent stalls.

Hants County Exhibition, Windsor, NS—$1,500 contributed to the cost of purchasing new footing and a leveler.

Four Seasons Horse Shows, Ontario—$1,500 was used toward the cost of building hunter and jumper wings, hurdles, boxes and gates.
