For the very first time, a Para-Reining clinic and demonstration class will be featured at the West Coast Classic July 10-13 at Chilliwack Heritage Park, just outside Vancouver in Chilliwack, British Columbia. The educational seminar and Para-Reining demonstration classes are slated for Saturday, July 12. This also marks for the first Para-Reining class to ever be held within the Canadian para-equestrian system, and aids in the effort to bring the discipline for equestrians with disabilities as a fully recognized sport in 2015.

Para-Reining offers riders of all skill-sets and levels of physical and mental ability the opportunity to compete and show on Reining horses. Para-Equestrian activities have been on the international stage for more than a decade and Para-Reining finally offers riders the opportunity to show at the high performance level in a western discipline.
The Para-Reining movement is driven by collaboration between the American Quarter Horse Association; Equine Canada’s Canadian Reining Committee, the official sport affiliate for the western discipline of Reining within the international structure of horse sports; and the National Reining Horse Association, the standard-setting body for the sport of Reining.

Equine Canada’s Canadian Reining Committee works to provide the key pipeline to high-performance competition at the international level. A main goal is for Para-Reining athletes to one day earn a spot to represent their nation at an international Para-Reining championships.

The aim of Equine Canada is to foster growth in the para-equestrian disciplines. From local horse shows to international Para-Olympic games, the Canadian Reining Committee provides para-equestrians the knowledge of what they need to succeed and connects with the International Para-Olympic Committee, the Federation Equestre Internationale, and Equine Canada which provides para-equestrians the top equestrian resources.

The West Coast Classic is a long-standing and widely regarded existing Reining event held in British Columbia and produced by the Western Canadian Reining Horse Association. For more information about the West Coast Classic or the WCRHA, click on: www.westcoastclassic.info
