Major sire Silver Deputy was euthanized on October 4th due to the infirmities of old age. The 29-year-old son of Deputy Minister – Silver Valley, by Mr. Prospector has been pensioned since 2008 at Fred Seitz’s Brookdale Farm near Versailles, Kentucky

From the first foal crop by two-time Leading Sire Deputy Minister, Silver Deputy was purchased for $200,000 by Windfields Farm at the Fasig-Tipton July Selected Yearling Sale. He was then moved to Brookdale Farm where he spent the remainder of his career. His stud fee rose to $75,000 in 2000.

Ranked among the leading North American sires in 1998 and 1999, Silver Deputy sired 694 winners of more than $88 million, including seven champions and 88 stakes winners. His leading progeny include dual Eclipse champion Silverbulletday, Canadian champions Archers Bay, Deputy Inxs, Deputy Jane West, Scotzanna, Poetically, and Larkwhistle. His sons at stud include 2007 Leading North American Freshman Sire Posse, Spring At Last, Bade of Silver, and Archers Bay.
