As of Sunday we have completed 46 days of live racing at Hastings Racecourse. In total we have run a total of 347 races which includes 39 stakes races. The average field size although it slipped a little in July and August is holding pretty steady at 6.94 horses per race.

The overall handle at Hastings on live racing is up by 11% over 2014, but at one time earlier we were up over 20%. The really good news is the over all wagering and slot revenue that produces our allocation of funding for live racing is about right on budget and has appeared to have stabilized for the first time in at least a decade.

One item we will have to look at for 2016 is the huge loss of income on BC Cup Day, Labor Day and BC Derby Day were off significantly over the last several years. That one is hard to figure but will have to be looked at very seriously over the next few months.

The total paid out to overnight races at the end of September is $4,485,477.00. Included in that total is $3,974,000.00 directly to purses of any breed. The BC Bred Bonus of 25% totals $465,629 and the 6th to 12th payout totals $45,848.00.

The stakes pool payout is an additional $2,385,000.00. That is made up of $621,000.00 of nomination fees, $225,000.00 from sponsors and $1,539,000.00 directly from the allocation of funds for stakes races.

The average payout per day for the first 46 days is $149,358.19. That is a very strong number and the largest per day payout in the Pacific Northwest.
The average overnight race payout is $14,563.24
