Goldika 559, the 18-year-old Westphalian mare owned and ridden by McLain Ward, was retired during a special ceremony at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show in Harrisburg, PA, on October 23rd. Since 2003, Ward and Goldika have won an incredible 400 classes, including the $25,000 HITS Grand Prix at HITS-on-the-Hudson in Saugerties, NY, in June of 2010. Harrisburg was a fitting venue for her retirement ceremony, as it is the site of many of her career highlights, including her third straight win last year in the Pennsylvania Big Jump.
Goldika 559 will begin her new career as a broodmare at Castle Hill Farm in Brewster, NY.
