Dressage Canada Board Announces New 2011 Directors

With the election generating voter turnout from across the country using a new online voting system, election results are in for the 2011 Dressage Canada Board.

Elections have been held on a yearly basis for the Dressage Canada Board. Each Director-at-Large position elected by the DC affiliate membership will serve either a two or a three-year term. The candidate that receives the greatest number of votes will have a three-year term with the remaining candidate having a two-year term.

Dressage Canada Nominations Committee received three nominees for the two open positions on the 2011 Dressage Canada Board. Dressage Canada welcomes Alison Elliott and Winona Hartvikson to the Board. These individuals will take office as of January 1, 2011.

For the past four years, Allison Elliott of Winnipeg, MB, has served as the chair of Dressage Winnipeg Board of Directors, having held various positions on the Board for five years prior. Elliott will also use her volunteer experience as President of Manitoba Naturalists Society and as World Wildlife Fund’s Manitoba Endangered Species Coordinator to assist her with her three-year-term on the Dressage Canada Board.

Winona Hartvikson of Langley BC was elected to a two-year-term with the Board. Hartvikson too has extensive committee experience, serving on BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre Board of Directors; Council of University Teaching Hospitals Board of Directors; Greater Vancouver Regional Hospital District Board of Directors; and the Southlands Riding Club Board of Directors.

The newly elected directors were announced at the Dressage Canada Reception held Thursday, November 11 at The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto.
