Hall of Fame jockey Chris McCarron and Olympic Eventing riders Gina Miles, David and Karen O’Connor will compete with some of the world’s leading Reining riders in the $25,000 World Championship Freestyle Reining at the Ariat Kentucky Reining Cup.

The Ariat Kentucky Reining Cup (AKRC) is held during the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, presented by Bridgestone, which runs April 26-29 the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY.  The AKRC features the $100,000 Concour de Reining International on Friday, April 27 at 6:00 pm, along with the popular $25,000 World Championship Freestyle Reining on Saturday, April 28 at 5:30 pm.

Tom McCutcheon, Craig Schmersal, Tim McQuay and Shawn Flarida, the four riders who won the team Gold Medal for the United States at the 2010 Reining World Championships, head an impressive list of Reining riders entered to compete.  Four-time Grammy Award winner and country music legend Lyle Lovett will compete with them in the $100,000 Concour de Reining International on Friday.

Competing with them in Saturday’s Freestyle will be Chris McCarron, the two-time Eclipse Award winner who was inducted into the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame in 1989, along with Gina Miles, individual Silver Medalist in Eventing at the 2008 Olympic Games, David O’Connor, individual Gold Medalist at the 2000 Olympic Games, and Karen O’Connor, 1996 Olympic Silver and 2000 Olympic Bronze Medalist.

Ariat Kentucky Reining Cup tickets are just $18 per person for Friday’s $100,000 CRI3* with Lyle Lovett and $25 per person for Saturday’s World Championship Freestyle with the celebrity field.  Tickets may be ordered on line or by phone and will be held at the Will Call window for pick-up at the event.  Hospitality options, including the use of luxury suites in the Alltech Arena for both nights of competition, are also available.
