The best of Canadian show jumping will be showcased during the CSI2* Canadian Show Jumping Tournament (CSJT) held September 21 to 25, 2011, at the Caledon Equestrian Park in Palgrave, ON.

The $100,000 Caledon Cup, sponsored in part by RAM Equestrian, will be this year’s featured event. Comprised of three legs of competition held over three days, the $100,000 Caledon Cup is the ‘triple crown of show jumping,’ with competitors fighting for top honours. Defending champion Jill Henselwood, a member of Canada’s Silver Medal Team at the 2008 Olympic Games, will be hoping to become the first rider to win back-to-back Caledon Cup titles, but will face stiff competition from the biggest names in the sport.

Sanctioned by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), the Canadian Show Jumping Tournament has secured two-time Olympic course designer Leopoldo Palacios of Venezuela to set the tracks in the grand prix ring.

Future grand prix horses will also be in the spotlight at this year’s Canadian Show Jumping Tournament as the Jump Canada Young Horse Series National Finals return to the Caledon Equestrian Park. Divided according to age, the best five-year-old, six-year-old and seven- and eight-year-old horses will vie for the national title.

In addition to showcasing the best young horses in the country, the Canadian Show Jumping Tournament will also put the spotlight on Canada’s next generation of human athletes, hosting the Eastern Regional Finals of the CET Medal for riders aged 21 and under, as well as the Eastern Canadian Final of the Jump Canada Talent Squad.

Over the past two years, the Canadian Show Jumping Tournament has raised more than $70,000 for the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada and has granted the wish for a horse to two lucky recipients. In keeping with this wonderful tradition, the Children’s Wish Foundation will once again be the beneficiary of this year’s Canadian Show Jumping Tournament. The Children’s Wish Celebration on Saturday, September 24, will feature a luncheon with live and silent auctions, followed in the evening by the Children’s Wish BBQ and Dance.

The popular ‘Ribbon Campaign’ will take place throughout the duration of the Canadian Show Jumping Tournament. By donating ribbons won, competitors can contribute their corresponding prize money to the Children’s Wish Foundation.

Spectators will have the opportunity to become a member of the Champions Club, offering enhanced viewing pleasure in a relaxed club-like atmosphere. Membership to the Champions Club includes access to the Children’s Wish Celebration, as well as a VIP brunch on Sunday, September 25.

The Family Village, open Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25, will feature entertaining and educational interactive displays and attractions. Children will also have the chance to participate in the Foxbury Farm Horseless Horse Show, where they can jump kid-sized obstacles on foot. New this year is a public tombola, where people can buy tickets and win great prizes on the spot.

Gate proceeds from the 2011 Canadian Show Jumping Tournament will go to support the Palgrave Rotary and other local charities.
