Yann Candele of Caledon, ON, Eric Lamaze of Schomberg, ON, Jonathon Millar of Perth, ON, and John Pearce of Stouffville, ON, have been named to the Canadian Show Jumping Team for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games taking place September 25 to October 10 in Lexington, KY.

Candele, 39, has been named with Pitareusa, a 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare owned by Susan Grange.

Olympic Champion Lamaze, 42, has been named with Hickstead, a 14-year-old Dutch Warmblood stallion owned by Ashland Stables Inc. and Torrey Pines Stable.

Millar, 36, will ride Contino 14, a 13-year-old Holsteiner gelding owned by Millar Brooke Farm.

2000 Canadian Olympian Pearce, 50, will ride Alison Moore’s Chianto, a 14-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding.

Jill Henselwood, 47, of Oxford Mills, ON, has been named as the traveling alternate with Bradon Construction’s Bottom Line, an 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare.

“In a challenging year, I think we have managed to come up with a good team,” said Terrance ‘Torchy’ Millar, chef d’équipe of the Canadian Show Jumping Team. “We have a group of strong riders led by our gold medalist Eric Lamaze and the wonderful Hickstead.”

Lamaze has competed at the past four consecutive World Equestrian Games, in 1994, 1998, 2002, and 2006.  Pearce competed for Canada at the 1998 World Equestrian Games in Rome, Italy.  Candele and Millar will be making their World Equestrian Games debut.  The alternate, Henselwood, competed at the 1994 World Equestrian Games in The Hague, The Netherlands, and 2006 in Aachen, Germany.

The 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, held every four years, act as the World Championships for the eight equestrian disciplines of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, para-dressage, jumping, reining and vaulting.  Held for the first time outside of Europe, the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games will take place at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, from September 25 to October 10, 2010.  The jumping competition will take place from October 4 to 9.  The Team Final will be held on October 6 and the Individual Final will be held on October 9.
