Samantha Buirs, 23, of Langley, BC, will ride Total Touch, her 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare.  Buirs and Total Touch won the $50,000 Thunderbird Legacy Grand Prix at Thunderbird Show Park on August 23, in Langley, BC.

Covert-Lawrence of St.Lazare, QC, will ride Utan, a nine-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by the Eastwood Group.  Covert-Lawrence, 34, and Utan won the $32,000 Brookstreet/CompetitiveJumpers.com Open Welcome at the CSI2* National Capital Show Jumping Tournament in Ottawa, ON, on August 19.

Riding Larry 0146, a 12-year-old black Oldenburg gelding owned by Synergy Farm, Hunkin, 30, of Kemptville, ON, won the $90,000 Summer Festival CSI2* Grand Prix on August 8 at the Summer Festival in Palgrave, ON.

“When we asked for expressions of interest for this trip, we received a tremendous response with 15 riders submitting their names for consideration,” said Mark Laskin of Langley, BC, who will act as the Canadian Show Jumping Team chef d’équipe in Buenos Aires.  “Cutting the list down to four riders was a difficult task.  I feel that the four that we ultimately picked, Angela, Lauren, Lisa and Samantha, are deserving of being selected.  They have all had very successful seasons so far this year.  With three of the riders being first-time members, they already bring excitement and enthusiasm to the trip.”

Laskin added, “This competition is a qualifier for the promotional league final next year, so it is an important event for us.  I expect that the group we have chosen will be successful in the Nations’ Cup in Buenos Aires and represent Canada admirably in Argentina.”
