Up and coming Canadian riders will get a chance to shine on the international stage as part of the Developing Rider Tour, featuring two upcoming stops in July at the CSI 3*-W Bratislava and CSIO 3* Samorin in Slovakia.

Aimed at giving young riders valuable elite level experience, the tour will kick off at the CSI3*-W Bratislava, July 22-24, with Jaclyn Duff, Brian Morton, Ali Ramsey and Chris Surbey all competing as individuals.

Duff, 29, of Edmonton, AB, has declared three horses for the competition, including her veteran mount Pater Noster (Parco x Heartbreaker), a 14-year-old Belgium Warmblood gelding. Her other rides include Eh All or None (Abke x Grannus), a 10-year-old Hanoverian gelding owned by Windermere Stables Limited, and Caesar Z (Chopin x Pilot), her nine-year-old Zangersheide gelding.

Morton, 30, of Langley, BC, has declared Atlantis T (Padinus x Guidam), an 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Grafton Farms Ltd., while Ramsey, 25, of Victoria, BC, will ride her nine-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare, Hermelien VD Hooghoeve (Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve x Thunder Van Du Zuuthoeve).

Surbey, 29, of Calgary, AB, has also declared multiple horses, including the 12-year-old Selle Francais mare Quetchup De La Roque (Quidam de Revel x Kannan) who is owned by Linda Southern Heathcott. Also included in his string are Artistic (Chin Chin x Cantus), an 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare, and Carnival (Chacco-Blue x Landadel), an 11-year-old Oldenburg gelding, both owned by Spruce Meadows.

In addition to competing individually, Morton, Ramsey and Surbey will join Vanessa Mannix in making their senior team debut during the Nations’ Cup competition at the CSIO 3* Samorin, running July 28 through 31. Mannix, 27, of Calgary, AB, has declared two of her horses as possible mounts, Rubens LS LA Silla (Rebozo LS LA Silla x Cash), a 10-year-old stallion, and Winslow High (Camiell-Flamingo Z x Montgomery), an 11-year-old Swedish Warmblood gelding.

With Duff as the alternate, the riders will compete as a team of four. The top three scores from each country are counted toward the final result of the two-round competition.

Canadian Olympian, Jill Henselwood of Oxford Mills, ON will step into the role of Chef D’Équipe for the tour, while Darren Roberts will be the Stable Manager.
