Canadian driver Kelly Houtappels-Bruder will represent Canada at the 2014 World Singles Driving Championships, being held September 24–28, in Izsák, Hungary.

Combined Driving is comprised of three phases—driven dressage, marathon and obstacle competition—which are scored in penalty points. The final results are determined by the driver with the lowest combined number of penalties throughout all three phases.

Houtappels-Bruder, who was originally from Ariss, ON, currently lives and trains in the Netherlands. Along with Zidaan (Manno x Hovenier), 10-year-old Dutch Harness Horse gelding owned by F.H.J. Houtappels, Houtappels-Bruder will tackle the Championships starting with the dressage competition which will be held over two days on September 25–26, followed by the marathon on the 27th and wraps-up with the obstacle competition on the final day, September 28.

The competition promises to be exciting with 78 entries from 24 countries. Houtappels-Bruder’s mother, Laurie Bruder, will act as her chef d’équipe, while her husband, Frank Houtappels, will be her navigator for the marathon.
