Canadian WEG Team member Ashley Holzer won three FEI classes at the Centerline Events at HITS on the Hudson, CDI-W Saugerties, held in Saugerties, NY, August 20–22, 2010.

Holzer, originally from Toronto, ON, won both the Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I tests with Jewel Court Stud VS’ Sonnenstern, an eight-year-old Oldenburg stallion sired by Sandro Hit. The pair earned 68.509% in the Prix St. Georges and 70.526% in the Intermediaire 1.

Lee Tubman of Dunnville, ON secured third place in the Prix St. Georges test after scoring 66.930%% aboard De La Rosa. The nine-year-old Hanoverian mare sired by De Niro is owned by Ducat Developments Ltd. Tom Dvorak of Hillsburgh, ON placed sixth earning 65.000% with Corrigan, a 10-year-old Westphalian gelding owned by Karen Thompson-Harry. Tubman and De La Rosa also placed third in the Intermediaire I with a score of 66.140%.

In the Intermediaire I Freestyle, Dvorak and Corrigan scored 70.500% for second place, and Tubman and De La Rosa were close behind in third with 69.417%.

In the Grand Prix Special, Holzer and Eminence, Diana V. Rose’s 15-year-old Dutch Warmblood stallion (Burggraaf x Santa Luigi), won the class with 66.37%, moving up from third place in the Grand Prix test, where they earned 65.319%.

“I was thrilled to have such a successful show in Saugerties. Sonnenstern won both the Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I. He is such a wonderful horse to compete. He loves to show off and you can really feel him puff up in the ring,” said Holzer of her small tour victories. “Diana Rose’s Eminence was also very good. I had only shown him once, and due to the European Tour, I had only a few weeks to prepare. He was exceptional in the Special. I really felt him give it his best effort.”

In the Grand Prix Freestyle, Diane Creech of Caistor Centre, ON was the top placed Canadian aboard Devon L. Creech and the 10-year-old Hanoverian gelding (De Niro x Wolkenstein II) owned by her long-time sponsor Douglas Leatherdale, earned 69.100% for third place.

In the FEI Young Rider Division, Alexandra Dvorak of Hillsburgh, ON, placed second in the Young Rider Team test with 65.614% riding Fling, Thomas Dvorak’s nine-year-old Westphalian gelding sired by Florestan I. The pair also finished third in the Freestyle with a score of 65.667%. Amy Jager of Puslinch, ON competed Key West, a 10-year-old Trakehner gelding (Charly Chaplin x Arogno) owned by Ruth Demandt. Jager was second in the Young Rider Individual test with 65.789% and nudged ahead of Dvorak in the Freestyle test for second with 67.417%.

The international judging panel included Axel Steiner (FEI 5*—USA), Maribel Alonso (FEI 5*—MEX), Elizabeth McMullen (FEI 5*—CAN), Lois Yukins (FEI 4*—USA), Gabriel Armando (FEI 4*—ARG) and Brenda Minor (FEI 3*—CAN).
