American Pharoah claimed the 141st running of the $2-million Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky on May 2, 2015.

Zayat Stables’ three-year-old colt battled it out with Firing Line along the home stretch, with Victor Espinoza in the irons, to win by a length in front of a record-setting crowd.

American Pharoah, trained by Bob Baffert, was the favourite to win, with 2.90-1 odds. His stablemate, the unbeaten Dortmund, finished third. Frosted was fourth, and the Mark Casse trained Danzig Moon was fifth.
