Equine Canada (EC) is pleased to announce that nominations are officially open for the 2016 EC Board of Directors.

Following the successful implementation of new By-laws and Articles of Continuance in 2015, EC has modernized its governance framework to more effectively deliver on its mandate, which is to represent, promote and advance the sport in Canada, and to represent, promote and advance all related equine and equestrian interests. With over 18,000 sport licence holders, 90,000 registered participants, and 10+ national equine affiliate organizations, EC is a significant contributor to the social, physical, emotional and economic wellbeing of the equine and equestrian industry across Canada.

2016 is a new era at EC. Several major organizational improvements are currently underway, and Director candidates will have a unique opportunity to contribute to growth and development, and strengthen EC’s credibility and partnerships in Canada and abroad.

Prospective candidates interested in serving on the EC Board of Directors are encouraged to visit the EC website for full application eligibility information, instructions and deadlines.

Vacancies
As per Bylaw 4.2, there will be up to six (6) Director positions to be filled in 2016:
a) Transition – Four (4) positions will be for a three-year term ending in 2019
Two (2) positions will be for a two-year term ending in 2018

Important Dates
The timeline for the 2016 Director Applications is as follows:

Feb. 1, 2016 – Call for Nominations will close at 4 p.m. EST
Feb. 9, 2016 – Nominating Committee will complete a review of applications, make nominations for the ballot, and publish a list of candidates
March 8, 2016 – Members cast their ballots
March 24, 2016 – Election results announced
April 20-24, 2016 – Annual Convention – Montreal, QC
